Bulletproof coffee typically consists of one cup of freshly brewed coffee, 1 tablespoon of coconut (Viva Labs Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 16 Ounce) or Bulletproof Upgraded MCT Oil, and 1 tablespoon of grass fed butter such as Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter – Unsalted (8 ounces). For those of us trying to make gains, protein is one of the most important macronutrients to consume in order to promote muscle growth. Often times I find it difficult to consume the amount of protein my body dictates through lean meats and other sources. I recently found this little gem called collagen protein that I add to my coffee in the morning. It’s tasteless and has 8 grams of protein per tablespoon! It also has a laundry list of other benefits like aiding in tissue repair, increasing flexibility and mobility, strengthening bones and joints, revitalizing skin, promoting weight loss, reduce aging, deepening sleep and aiding in brain function.
Another important macronutrient is fat. Good fat of course, like nuts, avocados, olive oil, coconut oil and grass fed butter. If you need help getting in some extra fat you can fuel yourself with the coconut or MCT oil, or you can take it to the next level with brain octane oil. Not only is this a good fat, but it helps increase energy and reduce brain fog! The recipe below is my new go to keep those macros legit and hook myself up with some additional benefits.
Bulletproof Coffee, Protein Style:
1 cup Bulletproof Upgraded Coffee 12oz
2 tbsp Bulletproof Upgraded Collagen Protein
1 tbsp Bulletproof Upgraded Brain Octane Oil
Add collagen protein and brain obtains oil to a cup of coffee, blend together. I use an immersion blender that works wonders.( Cuisinart CSB-75BC Smart Stick 2-Speed Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome) Sometimes I’ll add a dash of cinnamon or Monk Fruit In The Raw Sweetener, 4.8 Ounce if I’m wanting my coffee a little sweeter. And monk fruit sugar is Paleo! A raw egg can also be added to this concoction if you’re so inclined as well.
