I love being a part of challenges to see the amazing things people can when they put their minds to it. It reminds me on a regular basis of why I started this business. To be a part of helping people understand their bodies and take their health and fitness to the next level is inspiring and rewarding.

CrossFit Awaken in Beaumont held a 4-week challenge and their athlete’s all had some exceptional results. There was one individual however that really crushed it. When Aldolfo came in, I asked him how he thought he had done. He was quick to respond, “I think I did great actually.” He then went on to tell me what he had done in the 4 weeks to be so confident in his results. His response was nothing magical, no special pill or crazy diet. He simply committed himself, followed the macronutrient plan his coaches developed for him, put in the time and effort and got the results he deserved. All it took was mindset, accountability, some coaching, and BOOM!…. Here’s his story:

I was introduced to Marly from Body MetRx through my CrossFit Awaken coaches Chris & Danielle Brown. They had put on a nutritional challenge to see who could lose the most amount of body fat in a month with measurable results through Body MetRx. I decided to take the challenge and see if I could truly make a difference in my body composition once and for all.

I easily signed up at and scheduled a time to meet with Marly to have my body composition analyzed with the SECA MBCA machine. Marly was able to print out my results within minutes. These results gave me a huge insight on how much body fat I was actually carrying around and what I needed to do to fix it. Marly gave me encouraging words, telling me “don’t worry because we are going to get you to where you need to be.”

I took my individualized results from Body MetRx to my coaches and they we were able to calculate how many grams of macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fats) I would need to eat per day optimize maximum fat loss. This calculation ratio was based on 40% Protein, 40% Carbohydrates, and 20% Fats.

That very day after getting the number grams of macronutrients I needed to eat per day, I went out and bought my first food scale. I weighed and entered all my food and placed it in an app called MyFitnessPal for easy tracking of all my macronutrients. If something didn’t fit within my macronutrients then I simply would not eat it and found something else that would fit based on the 40/40/20 ratio above. I stuck to working out 3 times a week at CrossFit Awaken and did a light jog for about 30 mins on my non-CrossFit days.

One month later, it was time for me to re-measure and see how much fat I had lost in 1 month. Marly had me get on the SECA MBCA machine once again and we re-measured. Incredibly I had lost almost 6% of pure body fat within without losing any muscle. I later found that I had won the fat loss challenge. I had done something that I have been wanting to do for a while but just did not know how. Now that I have more knowledge and ways to measure the results, I will continue this path of fat loss. If it was not for Marly at BodyMetRx and my CrossFit Awaken coaches Chris and Danielle, I would not have ever figured out what to do and how to get where I am wanting to go. I am incredibly grateful and will be using BodyMetRx to continue to track my results. With my deepest gratitude.
